Re: Debugging an intermittent crash in a sea of code!

It sounds like it's stack related. All my spectacular game development crashes back to copyright prompt or other sections of the ROM were due to mismatched pushes and pops. As you're using an emulator you could try adding write breakpoints to the addresses around the stack area to see if you're over...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS

Here's a new release to mark LFN browser's 3rd birthday and the 41st birthday of the ZX-Spectrum. It can be downloaded from here . v0.24 Assembly rewrite of the .brwscfg configuration tool as a 128 startup style menu driven program. Fixed issue with certain Unicode characters in long filenames causi...

No, you need a ZX-EVO machine which is an advanced version of the Spectrum originating from Russia. It was the next Spectrum before the Spectrum Next. :)

Re: How did this Airwolf poke work?

Had a quick look at the .tzx for Airwolf and the first BASIC block loads a piece of code to address 59035 which then uses the ROM tape loader to load in the screen and a large block of code from 24000 up to 65535 (the code at 59035 gets overwritten with the same code again to keep everything happy)....

Re: Winter Wonder Worm

I got my tape earlier this week. I discovered that almost every speccy I own has something wrong with it! Mostly keyboard membranes. My Spectrum+ saved the day. On the first try I nearly finished it, but that was clearly a fluke because I keep failing around level 4 each time. I'm wondering if the ...

Re: Manic Jet Set Willy v3

How did you manage to fit both games into 48k? I thought manic miners 20 levels were pushing what could be achieved? The room data in Manic Miner and JSW is very compressible as the levels are mostly gaps. Adding 20 new levels is very doable as Jet Set Willy 2 has a load more screens than the first...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS

New test version available here . Just a small update to add support for the newly modified divMMC CPLD firmware which has new mapram features. It should not affect existing divMMC or divIDE hardware. A bug with plugin error messages not redrawing filenames when the message is cleared was also fixed.

It's brilliant Bob. Very addictive and hard as hell. This looks trippy as hell - you could have marketed it as LSD-Snake! £8.95 shipping is a lot, but sign of the times I suppose. I'll get a copy of Crazy Blaster too. Congrats on getting published. Edited - thought it was inspired by Snake Pit Than...

Winter Wonder Worm

Ladies may not be for turning but this worm certainly is! You'll need to steer a hungry Wonder Worm round 6 different levels eating up the yummy food that appears as you slither around. The more food you eat the longer you become. Be careful not to crash into yourself or the walls otherwise you'll ...

Hi @bob_fossil, many thanks for the latest test version. I just copied it to the SD cards of my Omni and my eLeMeNt and it worked fine on both. Many thanks for the Kempston support in the new configuration tool, for me it is just more play around with the configuration tool with the joystick. I fou...

Re: Long Filename Browser for ZX-UNO / esxDOS

New test version available here . The new configuration program respects the current browser font and pressing left and right now toggles the state for 'on / off' menu options. If you have Kempston joystick support enabled, you can now use that to navigate and select options in the menus and dialogs.

Re: Possible to convert ROM files to Z80, SNA etc?

You can load IF2 16k ROMs (e.g. Jetpac, Planetoids) in if you have a divMMC. You need the .ownrom command which you should be able to find via your favourite search engine. Or my long file name browser supports loading these files with a .ROM extension.
