Re: Games with multiple parts AND multiple genres

I’d propose some of the Dave Perry and Nick Bruty games from Probe, like Extreme and TMNT. The former’s a multi stage game, the latter a game with different formats in the levels: top down and side scroller.

I guess Tin-Tin on the Moon fits too.

Captain Blood, although not quite a game, game?

Re: Unnecessary inclusions in games

The shuttle/floaty C5 in Project Future. I used to find it too fast to not fly into enemies. On occasion, I’d be stuck in it too and wouldn’t be able to use the teleporters.

Re: The best re-released full price game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

Well, if I’m thinking long and hard about this then Chaos’ fun factor increases when played as a multiplayer but how is it as a solo game? Do any other games provide more fun when played solo? Hmmm. Additionally, should I include games I already had? I would play them anyway, so new games offered by...

Pretty much. It’s a fun jingle nonetheless.

Another HoH tune is How Much Is That Doggie In The Window.

Re: Music references 3

I always felt Head Over Heels main tune was ‘Let’s Stick Together’ by Bryan Ferry but it’s not quite. Possibly inspired by and would certainly suit the theme of the game.

I just know the game well because the music track is something of an opus.

As usual, please could someone take my go?

Playing around with random colour generation now. The outside walls and floors accept random colours. An accident when calculating a variable created some interesting floor colours. I wonder if there's something in this or is the effect too garish? https://i.postimg.cc/Ny34kqXz/temp-Imagez-Rn7u3.avi...

So I've started working on this again with Fransoul's help. Here's a screenshot that incorporates his tileset and redesigned barrel.

Re: Guess the screen$

The dithered graphics remind me of a certain game but I don’t think it’s that. Won’t say what.

But who did do this kind of graphic was Tiertex. I wonder if it’s…. UN Squadron, perhaps?

Re: The best re-released full price game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: shortlist votes for K-Z

Again, a strong set to choose from. My first and second choices came from YS. The other games I already had but would have played a lot if they’d been on a cover tape.

1 Quazatron
2 Star Raiders II
3 Pi R Squared
4 Krakout
5 Split Personalities

Pete will like my first vote. I’m going more by how much these games were played having been on cover tapes, then by how much I played the game if not.

1 Chaos
2 Empire!
3 Ad Astra
4 Bumpy
5 Astroclone

But wow, what a list of games!

Re: Games with good use of push scrolling?

Can't you run faster than the scrolling in Boulder Dash though? So you can get off screen? Yes but I was surprised when I saw the game on the C64 and Atari that this game mechanic wasn’t present and Rockford couldn’t run off the screen. Personally, I really liked the idea and would run off the scre...
