Little bugs in the database 6
Re: Little bugs in the database 6
That's absolutely fine @Einar Saukas,
The remarks say 'Remarks:
Reissued in 1987, as Complete Machine Code Package.'
I'm happy for them to stay separate though. As you say they do look different.
Can we split the adverts though? All the adverts are currently against the earlier version.

@Einar Saukas,
I think all that needs doing is as follows:
The section 'RELATED MAGAZINE ADVERTISEMENTS' against #ID: 11492 to be moved to 'ADVERTISEMENTS' against #ID: 12381.
Cheers.

It's because I separated these adverts about an hour ago. However the site will only display them in the correct page after this information goes into ZXDB, in about a week.

The itch.io link provided for Transylvanian Castle no longer works.
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... ian_Castle
There is an updated game version called
Transylvanian Castle Dx2 with an updated itch.io address:

The Magazine Reviews & Magazine References section for Mira Modula-2 both point to the same article.

The book Computer Programming 1, 2, 3!
Has Original Publisher as IrataHack and, well, I doubt that is the case.
Checking the PDF itself, it's got "Publishers • GROSSET S’ DUNLAP • New York"

Fantastic Journey is a type in from page 3 of Spectrum Supergames.
Also, the author is recorded as David D. Virgo, but the book is by Richard G. Hurley.

Not really a bug, more a request for an addition.
Uni-Dos is mentioned in New Computer Express (Issue 128 / Page 27):

Spellbound and Spellbound 128 should be marked as having the feature 'Icon/Menu Driven Control'
Re: Little bugs in the database 6
The entry for Spectrum Microdrive FORTH which has a genre of Book:Paperback seems to be just the manual for the microdrive version of Abersoft FORTH.
I suggest the PDF just needs adding to the Abersoft FORTH entry.

Please could the page references be added to these games from '15 Graphic Games for the Spectrum by Richard Hurley'
Dropout , Graham the Grass Snake, Madmax, Sky Diver, Sub-Hunt , Surround, and Turtle Bridge
Also, 'Graham Grass Snake' should be called 'Graham the Grass Snake'
Finally, I don't believe Road Racer is from this book.

On advanced search there is a relatively new option to search for board games. If you select Chess, this game appears in the list. Whilst it has chess in the title, it's certainly not a chess board game.

I've just noticed that I've been erroneously credited for "Cheese Thief" and "Go Bear Go". There seems to be another Stephen Smith.

Should the following be marked as 'Text / Illustrated' rather than just Text?
Adventure Guide , Akbarr, L'Avventura, Bunker Swamp, A Case of Murder, Christmas at the Microfair, Dr. Jekyll vs. Mr Hyde, El Hobbit (Demo), Indy, and The Legend of Craldons Creek.

L'Avventura dei tuoi sogni has a price of ₤30000.00
Also, the screens don't look like Spectrum colours.
Edit: ignore, I'm completely wrong!

I suspect £ in this case means lire.PeterJ wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 5:43 pm L'Avventura dei tuoi sogni has a price of ₤30000.00

The screen seems to be a photograph of a CRT screen, which perhaps explains the off colours.

...which confirms the 30,000-lira price.
I recall this was discussed before, but it would be (more than) useful if the archive could properly distinguish between pounds and lire. The failure to do so here is extremely confusing. I've suggested before using three-letter ISO codes for currencies, eg GBP and ITL. Alternatively £ for pounds sterling and L for Italian lire would be somewhat better than what we have here.
Re: Little bugs in the database 6
The archive does distinguish properly, it uses a lira symbol ₤ which has two horizontal dashes, it does however not help that it is showing decimals when the lira had none.Rorthron wrote: ↑Fri Nov 17, 2023 4:19 am ...which confirms the 30,000-lira price.

That we all need glasses getting older is another matter.
Update: but I see that according to wikipedia this is a made up symbol since there is no official symbol!
So yes, three letter iso-currency codes FTW

Yes, I checked Wikipedia before posting. It seems the one-bar/two-bar distinction was an arbitrary invention of the Unicode system to give different names to the symbols and has never been followed generally. Both symbols have been commonly used for both pounds and lire (for centuries in the case of the former). It is not correct to observe a distinction between them when expressing currencies.
