Re: Little bugs in the database 6
There's something not quite right about Warlord and Warlords, but I don't know what is correct.
Warlord: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/7 ... um/Warlord
Warlords: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... m/Warlords
Both games have a link to the same Crash review at https://archive.org/details/crash-magaz ... ew=theater. If Crash is correct with its spelling, then Warlords is a text adventure by Intercaptor, but this is down as Warlord in ZXDB, but it's loading screen says Warlord to add to the confusion.
Edit: It looks like Crash it actually wrong, as at least two other mags call it Warlord.
Edit 2: To summarise after some investigation, Crash got the name of the text adventure wrong, and there shouldn't be a link from Warlords to that Crash review.

Rogue is marked as 'Message Language: Russian', but it's actually English. It looks like the early Beta was Russian. Both the YouTube videos show English Language.

The improved scan of Advanced Spectrum Forth has been added, but the poor quality one hasn't been removed.

Re: Little bugs in the database 6
A heads-up for spaniards archivers:
MicroHobby magazine published many, many type-ins on their pages. Also, they published some tapes called "MicroHobby Semanal" that had those type-ins recorded so you don't have to type them. On the database, most titles contained on that tapes have bad information on Original release: they are listed as their first release was in the tape, when they were published as type-ins.
Looking at MicroHobby Semanal 017-020, you can see that only Ajedrez is listed as type-in. Others like Kamicaces 2000 (was published on issue 18, page 10 and 11) are not.
So there are LOTS of type-ins to be corrected.
BTW, on the first issues there were some type-ins that were translations of type-ins from english books or magazines... should they be listed as MODs and given their first released as type-ins on MicroHobby?
P.S.: "Microhobby Cassette", another series of tapes, contained programs that were NOT published as type-ins (maybe because they were too long). Later they included some tapes with the magazine ("MicroHobby 3ª Época"), that contained mostly demos but also some type-ins. I wonder if they have their original release right.
----------------------------

Fixed! Whenever a program was published both as type-in and inside "MicroHobby Semanal", the type-in is now marked as original.zup wrote: ↑Sun Nov 26, 2023 9:03 am MicroHobby magazine published many, many type-ins on their pages. However most MicroHobby titles in ZXDB are missing type-in information. Can someone please help complete this information?
The missing information can be added using this site online form. Or if it's easier, just send me a spreadsheet and I will import this information into ZXDB!
We just need to know the MicroHobby number and page corresponding to each type-in. You can use whatever format you like, for instance listing each SC page link and corresponding magazine link inside SC:
Code: Select all
TITLE: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/16264/ZX-Spectrum/Ajedrez
MAGAZINE: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/page.php?issue_id=761&page=9
Code: Select all
ZXDB_ID: 16264
Number: 19
Page: 9
Thanks!

Re: Little bugs in the database 6
Dados is a ripoff of Craps - as can be verified by comparing the BASIC listings.
(I say Dados is the ripoff rather than the other way round because it appears on one of the Spectrum Load'n'Run covertapes, which seem to be full of ripoffs of commercial games.)

At SpectrumComputing, if you place your mouse cursor over any price, the currency name will appear on screen.
I bet nobody else noticed although it has been working like this for years
Re: Little bugs in the database 6
This JRS title entry must be deleted:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... Black_Jack
as its the same as this one from Keyword Software:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/5 ... /Blackjack
The only difference is that they changed Keyword Software to JRS Software in the game, before they re-released it on their compilation 'Pot Pourri'.
The Z80 file on the Keyword page is the JRS version, and not the original. However, it can be deleted as I'll upload a TZX version of the JRS version later.
So the original release from Keyword Software is MIA

Woot 2024 has an incorrect file added.
The files:
WOOTTapeMagazineIssue7-ZXMAS2023Edition(16K).tap.zip
WOOTTapeMagazineIssue7-ZXMAS2023Edition-RUN-3.scr
Are not Woot and should be removed. Not sure what they are or how they got there, but they look like a type-in.

Software Supersavers Ltd
All the magazine references from 1987/8 should be moved to a new entry for "Software Supersavers" of type "Company: Software sales". This company is not "Software Supersavers Ltd", the budget label from Software Projects.

Manchester United Europe has a re-release on Krisalis Software's budget label, "Buzz".
Mobygames has scans of the cassette inlay:
The price is £3.99 and release date 1993 - this is based on the C64 version appearing in the charts published in Commodore Force in September 1993.

On that subject, the authors/contributors section could do with some attention.
The game includes the following credits:
The manual credits:
Taking the game itself as gospel and supplementing it with the manual, does it seem fair for ZXDB to be updated as follows?
Shaun Hollingworth (UK) - Code
Peter M. Harrap (UK) - Code, Game Design/Concept
Mark Incley (UK) - Code
Neil Adamson (UK) - Game Design/Concept, In-game Graphics
To be deleted from entry:
Mark Harrap (UK) - not credited in the game so no indication he worked on the Spectrum version graphics
Matt Furniss (UK) - not credited in the game and afaik the Spectrum version has no music
To be added to entry:
Tony Kavanagh - Game Design/Concept [new author entry required]

Code: Select all
Program by S.Hollingworth,M.Incley,P.Harrap. Graphics by N.Adamson.

TZX of JRS Software version uploaded to Keyword Software Blackjack. So JRS Software Blackjack entry can now be deleted, and the Z80 under Keyword Software can be deleted as well, as its just a Z80 file of the JRS version I've just replaced with a TZXFrankie wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 8:19 am This JRS title entry must be deleted:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/4 ... Skateboard
The game's name is currently "Skateboard", with "Skateboard Construction System" being an "also known as" name. However the cover art, instructions, game loading screen and the game itself all call it "Skateboard Construction System". So imho the main name should be "Skateboard Construction System", maybe with "Skateboard" being an "also known as" name (since the inlay spine and one magazine-published Multiface poke refers to it as just "Skateboard").

The remarks against the modified version of Voyage of Peril indicate that it's based on a type in Spectrum game.
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3 ... e_of_Peril
However, the only other title with the same name is a ZX81 type in from ZX Computing.

There seems to be a lot of 1K ZX81 programs which have machine type '16K ZX81'.
For example:

I'm happy to create a list of IDs if it would help.

Hi-Res scan for Myth (Rainbaird)
Found it on the missing in-lay page, but they are actually already there (as I uploaded them years ago). However, they have not been classified correctly in ZXDB - as can be seen on the page as well: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/11949
I've changed the classification on the change-page, so they should show up in the near future

Regarding the MicroSolver series mentioned here:
https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... Kompilator
I'm working on preserving a utility from that series, and on the last pages of the Swedish manual, they list the programs included in the series.
Find it easier to mention it here, as I'm not sure if and how to add titles to a series, and its not linked yet, so I probably can't anyway
Here we go, these are included in the series
Swedish name according to the manual: LINK to english release
Superfile: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... /Superfile
Pascal kompilator: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... t_Pascal_4
The one I'm working on preserving.
SYS 64: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... rum/Sys_64
Basic kompilator: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... C_Compiler
Is the program linked to at the top. All programs in this series are English releases, released with a nice ringbind holder, and then with extended Swedish instructions.
This means that https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/1 ... Kompilator should be moved to Softek BASIC compiler.
Also the name of the program is 'Basic kompilator' and NOT 'Digilog Basic-Kompilator'
16k FORTH: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... trum/FORTH
Not sure if the Swedish name is right on this one, but that can be corrected once someone preserves it
DevPac: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8 ... oft_Devpac
All these Swedish re-releases were released in 1983
Hope its not to confusing, I sometimes confuse myself once I get started LOL
