At last the Speccy has its own version of 'Mr Do!'

A superb game created by Bob Smith, great tune playing throughout as well. Shockingly somehow got a poor review in Retro Gamer, i normally agree with most of their reviews but this one i didnt at all.

Very playable game, either drop fruit on the baddies or a nice touch is to drop bombs.

Gets very difficult later. I'm certain this game would have been a Crash Smash back in the day, excellent game. 5/5 for sure.

One of the things I missed most on the speccy back in the eighties was a good conversion of Mr. Do.

To be fair I never played Mr. Do until years later - but I had played Mr. Wiz (a great BBC unofficial conversion by superior software) and wanted to play something just as good as that on the speccy.

Well, I finally did. In 2008.

This conversion really gives a great feeling of the arcade. There's a good feeling of weight to the sprites which have a lot of character and the whole thing just 'plays well'.

Just like Mr. Wiz I'm rubbish at it. But like all good arcades it never feels unfair and drags me back for another go.

A nice little game, with clear and colorful graphics and pleasing tunes and sound effects, FJHH is openly inspired to Mr. Do, a very old Universal coin-op which was never converted for the Spectrum.

It is pretty simple and good for casual gaming, so it's not likely to hold your attention for a long time. But while it does, it will surely be a fun time.

The next games will be from the Farmer Jack series, three games and then a compilation featuring all three games. And I'm pretty excited actually because they are written by Bob Smith who did the rather excellent Gem Chaser and he's done other good games too, so I was really looking forward to this and it did not disappoint. It's based on Mr. Do and plays similar to Dig Dug but on a tractor, you know, because he's a farmer, and you have to collect all the fruits whilst moving around the field and using boulders to crush the enemies. So more a cross between Dig Dug and Boulder Dash come to think of it, but it plays really nicely, it's cute, colourful, the sound is excellent, but I was not as good at this as I'd hoped. After four attempts though I managed to get to level 6 with two lives and then lost both of them within three seconds, flaming typical. But yep I hoped this would be good given who wrote it and I was not disappointed. I hope the other two games are just as good.
