There's something almost unbelievable about this game.

It'a Raf Cecco game, AND IT'S PLAYABLE.

And, not only that, IT'S EVEN EASY.

And, what's more important, it's good fun, a beautiful conversion of an arcade game that I played just once: but the Spectrum version seems far better.

Really enjoyable jingles and music, nice graphics - although less colorful than the other Cecco's games: one of the best Spectrum platformers, in my opinion.

1987 US Gold Ltd (UK)
by Raffaele Cecco and JPW

A good arcade port from a popular game often seen is a lot of arcade houses and bars where I used to live, but only for a short period.
I'm not madly in love with this game as some people are, only because I don't fancy the game mechanics. But also because I think is could be a lot smoother, like Bubble Bobble or Rainbow Islands, just to name a few.
Also it lacks variety in the color scheme, which is always the same, making the game nowadays a bit boring, especially when compared with the games above.
But for 1987 this was pretty good.

It's that thing again isn't it? The game has really glorious graphics and all but the gameplay counts for me and the gameplay here is a bit naff. It's a platformer with strategic puzzle elements concerning making blocks appear and disappear to help your way through the level, and I never got on with that. I shall blame that on the original arcade machine which I never played, but it's not a game I am particularly thrilled about. Nice graphics yes indeed but it's not fun.

Nice graphics but something feels off with the gameplay. That’s the fault of the arcade version though. As far as the conversion goes this is pretty accurate.

I bought the Kixx budget release and I really liked how it played with a combination of platformer, puzzle and strategy.

Yes, the gameplay would feel off to the casual gamer. It is challenging and at times demanding as it requires a blend of patience, timing and perfection, with one wrong move potentially leading to a lose of a life. Challenging but it is very unique.

The graphics are nice enough, not as cute and colourful as the arcade but they are decent enough. The sound is pretty decent too, I really like the opening tune.

I feel if I paid full price for this I might have been expecting more and maybe would have felt a little disappointed. Having paid it on budget though I was reasonably satisfied with this. :)
