Reviews for St. Dragon (#4801)

Very good but really challenging shmup which is a conversion of the Jaleco arcade game of the same name. The graphics are really good, nice solid colours and the? presentation is very impressive, but it does suffer from a bit of slowdown and it is brutally difficult. However it's still a really impressive looking game and worth a go if you're in need of a challenge. This was? Storm's first game on the market, what a good way to make your entrance I'll say.

In this horizontally scrolling shoot em up you control a mechanical dragon who has somehow attained sainthood. Only the head of the dragon is vulnerable so you can use the body as a shield to deflect bullets. That's not to say the game is easy, far from it. It's not helped by having a black border surrounding the playing area. Often you'll go to move up to avoid a bullet only to find that you're already at the top of the playing area.
The game features the usual power ups and bosses.
It's not the greatest shooter on the spectrum but it's more than decent and it features a dragon which is always a good thing.

A bloody marvelous shooter in the same vein as R-Type , for example ... in which you play the role of a sideral dragon facing intergalactic snails , wasps , squids , etc.

Incredible , supreme quality !

This is quite an impressive shooter. Very challenging and difficult. The long dragon is a good idea, and although I think it could have been improved, it still freshens up the side scrolling shoot-em-up genre. An above average conversion from a Spectrum rookie software house.

This deserved to be better than what it is. The graphics are wonderful, the presentation is superb, the gameplay though is very slow, sluggish and choppy, the framerate is very bad, not helped by its brutal difficulty. If only for that this game was destined to be among the very best. Pity.

As in Dragon Breed, released the same year, you control a sort of dragon which can use its tail as a shield or as a lethal weapon, while shooting at myriads of nasties in a horizontally scrolling enviroment. It was a Crash Smash. Pretty tough too.
