Certainly one of the more established Spectrum artists, with his own distinctive style. Sad loss.

Re: AGD - How to play AY sound effects WITH music?
@Nienn Heskil I just read about a fixed AYFX player by Haplo: https://www.zxuno.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=643 In your mFX code, is this fix incorporated? It doesn't say exactly what was the bug and/or where is the fix, so it's hard to say. Iirc I rewrote the player from scratch for mFX, an...

There was another game rather like this, but with a ball. It was called "Rebound" or "Revolution" or something...? I thought it was by Infogrames but I can't find it. (I don't mean "Helter Skelter", or "Turbulence", or any of 1000 other ball-based games! This...

Re: When did the Spectrum scene hit rock bottom?
Great thread! Let's be honest, it's been a clown fiesta from roughly the fall of WoS to this day, run by absolutely disgusting hypocrites/egotards from both sides. I'm glad to be no longer actively involved with all this circus xd And I've heard plenty of people who refuse to believe that any Spectr...

^ Do you mean archive.org? Those guys host all sorts of stuff without some sort of made-up distinction cancer.
There's no 'archive' to speak of here, this site leeches most (if not all) of its downloads off archive.org.

A stonker is, naturally, someone dabbling in the stonks. https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse1.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.GTzodghRx3QRgsTpmqk3KQHaFj%26pid%3DApi&f=1&ipt=056a0efe3d7e605954992fa0b230c8ccdd8bba7a958058bf88254e380daf68a5&ipo=images https://externa...

Re: Horizontal Scrolling :0-
Scrolling is just a way of showing a bigger map in a small window. Chances are you don't even need that for your game idea. If you don't, that's a big plus on such a platform. Otherwise just use Unity/Godot really. Only downside is it's not Spectrum anymore, everything else is a plus, you aren't in ...

It's nice to see how spoiled and picky we've become, these days... Considering the state of a 'sinclair user' around these parts, it's impressive (not) they are sometimes aware new games are still coming out  'they use DITHERING in it and and and ... if this was out bAcK iN 1983' https://zxar...

Re: Were there any Spectrum models with stereo output?
The first and only Javascript game I made was a Sokoban where the footstep sound panned left to right as the character moved by altering the volume, and as mentioned above it worked better to go from 80/20 to 20/80 than having the sound totally in one ear. It was quite atmospheric. I think it would...

You can convert any modern image to a 256x192 ZX Spectrum SCREEN$ by using imagetozxspec, easily imported into a Speccy via .tzx/.tap/whatever.

Re: AI art generators and Spectrum graphics
Perhaps a better approach could be to train it to convert existing pictures to Spectrum limitations. At least on the paper, it sounds like a simpler goal to me. There are some really good ZX artists out there that excel at this sort of task. Make a set of pairs like 'original image / Spectrum conver...

Is there such a thing as jumping the shark in terms of thread ideas..? Because it does seem like you guys are getting there. )) A good number of these games are perfectly fine on their own, and are much better than Ultimate's output anyway (better gameplay, balance, content etc). In terms of similar...

Re: Were there any Spectrum models with stereo output?
One thing I haven't seen yet on ZX is a game with real stereo panning, i.e.taking objects positions into account. Use both left/right channels to play back the fx with simulated panning (different volumes), central channel for 'system' and/or player fx that need to be centered. Idk if this would mak...

Re: Were there any Spectrum models with stereo output?
Official models don't have that OOTB, but for unofficial ones this is pretty much the norm, and still is I think. Most popular schemes are ABC and ACB, sometimes BAC but very rare. It was considered good practice BITD to provide a setting to switch between some of these (ABC/ACB/BAC) in ezines/new g...
