Re: Guess the screen$

↑ I wasn't too familiar with Streethawk but it seems this gorgeous little graphic pops up several times during the game. Would be nice to have a whole game in this style. Definitely. When I was choosing this one for an entry I was wondering if I was "cheating" a bit by taking a screencap ...

That's it, congrats. Released in 1986 by Ocean Software and got average reviews.

Well no guesses yet, so zooming out.

First hint, it's not an adventure game but an arcade game.

Re: Iconic Character Sprites

I've never really thought about much work it would be to be to assemble something like this. When you get arithmetic involved it's surprising how many pixels the Speccy had for a budget machine. You last mentioned aiming for lesser dimensions of 176x112 pixels? That's still 19712 blocks! My condolen...

Anyway, similar vein, but much more obscure :

Re: If your Spectrum ownership was with a different model...

Well yeah, I do wish I had a better ZX Spectrum back in the day but man, still appreciated what we had. My first experience was with a ZX81 when I was around 4 years old. I remember us owning a rubber-keyed 48K spectrum after that and later on encasing it in a DK'Tronics keyboard and eventually upgr...

Re: Saboteur on the NEXT

That looks pretty good. I'm not normally a fan of remakes because they tend to lose that Speccy charm, but this still feels like Saboteur. Maybe because it still has that blocky kind of sprite movement and is not smooth, because higher frame rates make things feel more console-like to me. Curious to...

Re: Introduce yourself!

AFAIK there were 20 cards with Sinclair User #63 (1987/Jun) and another 20 cards with Sinclair User #68 (1987/Nov). Does anyone know which cards came with each one? There are 18 cards in this link: https://archive.org/details/Sinclair_User_PokeCards/ I don't know if they correspond to either of the...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hi there. I'm a bit late to this introduction as I registered a few months ago but didn't know about this thread and didn't post much, but I'm getting drawn more into these forums as time goes on. I can't remember a time where I didn't have memories of the Sinclair world, and I mean that literally. ...

Re: Wanted - Tape deck

The only exception was one mysterious tape which I'd labeled as being full of important home videos, but it was completely blank - nothing but static. I guess it's possible it was mis-labeled. It would seem odd for the entire tape to be completely wiped with no trace of anything while all the other...

Re: Wanted - Tape deck

Thanks PeterJ . The tapes were kept in their covers in non-humid conditions in a box so as best as they could be preserved I guess. I think I'll start looking for a tape player then, the Speccy was so much part of my childhood that it would be the equivalent of uncovering old lost photographs that h...

Re: Wanted - Tape deck

Does the magnetism on tapes remain viable after a few decades? I have some programs and art I made and saved to tape more than 35 years ago and was wondering if it is worth trying to find a tape player to salvage them. Has anyone had tapes that have "gone bad" in storage?

I'm surprised I knew that one, usually when someone says it's a well-known title I have never even heard of it. Chase H.Q. is burned into my memory though, fast-paced engaging action that gets the adrenaline circuits firing. Alright, let me see what I can come up with but the last screen I posted I ...

Re: Landscape artwork and other stuff

I must have spent at least 10 minutes just studying and admiring this latest piece. Do you pre-plan your pixel work to align to the 8x8 background attribute limitations via a grid or do you adjust your pixel work on the fly to fit? Your use of colour attributes are a work of art on it's own here. I ...
