Yes, I'm using a ZX-HD HDMI interface in the US with a 48k Spectrum and a 128k Toastrack - the HDMI works perfectly with a modern flatscreen TV. The picture is very sharp and clear.

Re: Brand new r2 48kB, not quite working
Thanks for these replies and for all the advice on installing a heat sink and replacing the 7805. Very much appreciated! I think I’ll try with a heatsink first and will replace the regulator if this doesn’t help. While I wait for those parts to come, I won’t fire up this Spectrum - especially as it ...

Re: Brand new r2 48kB, not quite working
The 7805 definitely needs a heatsink, especially if you’re running additional hardware (although yours probably uses the 9V directly from the PSU). But, yeah, you don’t want to run it without a heatsink. Even a small slab of aluminum will be better than nothing. As a test, remove the heatsink from ...

Re: Brand new r2 48kB, not quite working
Oh, and it's normal for the heatsink attached to the 7805 voltage regulator to run hot. As long as the nut and the bolt holding the heatsink to the 7805 is tight, the 7805 will be okay. If the 7805 gets too hot, it will reduce it's output, and then you will know about it. It is however worthwhile p...

Re: The inevitable worst game ever thread
Super Soccer was indeed horrible, but wait until you try Peter Beardsley's International Football. Or Gazza's Super Soccer :x Gazza II , on the other hand, was a different matter altogether. I remember Super Soccer being a sluggish mess with colour clash and awkward controls. What was the best Spec...

Re: Getting my ZX Spectrum+ up and running again...
I did push some keys. There was a click from some but not all of them, and it didn’t click repeatedly when I held a key down or pressed it repeatedly - it’s been 20 odd years and I can’t remember how the Speccy behaved on a good day. Another strange thing - I tried resetting the computer several tim...

Re: Getting my ZX Spectrum+ up and running again...
Thanks for all the advice. I did the composite mod as suggested, and with a new power supply designed for a 48K Spectrum I set everything up with a composite cable from the computer into the back of my Samsung flat screen TV. I got a distorted picture along the border of the screen, as well as some ...

Re: Day one games
Penetrator, Atic Atac (both lent to us by a friend), and the starter tape that came with the ZX Spectrum+. I think it taught some basics of BASIC and then ended with a Breakout-type game?

I didn't think much of Friday the 13th. Dull gameplay and awful graphics. A real horror of a game.

Re: Getting my ZX Spectrum+ up and running again...
Thanks - it almost seems too good to be true, but I'll try the RF cable first, and then the composite mod next. For using the original TV cable, do you know what sort of connector/adapter I'd need for the antenna input on the back of my TV (see previous posting picture) as the Spectrum's TV cable do...

Getting my ZX Spectrum+ up and running again...
I'm now living in the US and recently collected my old ZX Spectrum+ from its 25 year storage. I'd like to get it up and running again, assuming it still works. I've been reading here and on other websites about issues regarding power supplies and getting the 48K versions to work on modern TVs. Also,...
