Re: Games so hard you take a picture....

it very addictive. BUT you have to do some hardcore memorisation. The worst offenders are the floor blocks that disappear without warning, giving you no time to react. And there is the circles thing that comes every so often , and you pretty much have to memorise when it will appear. At the top of t...

Games so hard you take a picture....

https://i.postimg.cc/xJJjxLpZ/IMG-20231212-073641-915.jpg This game is ridiculously unfair and evil in the design of level 1. But also very addictive and I was determined to beat it. When I did I felt compelled to take a picture! Does anyone else ever feel like doing that? If so, what was the game?...

Re: getting the true length of a string stored in an array

Thanks guys - some great suggestions here. TMD2003 - thats so simple - great idea! Although I like the idea that the Spectrum does all the work itself. So I prefer an approach where the spectrum does the calculations this time. Actually, I'm glad I did because my 10 year old got interested and ended...

Re: playing tap through audio cable from phone

Hi, I can't remember exactly, was about 15years ago I made it, on a bit of perf board. I still have it so I'll find it later and take a pic. I also added a little speaker and you could play music through it or use it as a small speaker for the spectrum. It was probably a bit like this... https://ext...

I made a little 9v amp with a 555timer and a few caps that could I powered from a splitter cable off the PSU. Using that fixed all my woes!

getting the true length of a string stored in an array

Or have I missed something? it there a better way than this example code... 5 PAPER 7: CLS 10 DIM a$(3,12) 20 FOR x=1 TO 3 30 READ a$(x) 40 NEXT x 100 FOR x=1 T...

Re: Is Sinclair Basic 100% compatible with ZX Boriel BASIC compiler?

Sinclair Basic is 100% compatible with ZX Boriel BASIC compiler? I mean can Boriel compiler be used as a replacement for zmakebas or bas2tap? If I send any working Sinclair Basic program to ZX Boriel compiler will it work ? I remember I read somewhere that it wasn't 100% compatible. No. You can't c...

Is the +3 able to run Spectrum 48 games and software in your experience?
the grey +2 is the most compatible computer. It has a great keyboard, and integrated tape make things easy.

+3 if you want a disk drive cos there cool - which they are.

I made a version for the spectrum a long time ago, but I lost it!

Re: Best way to fill screen in basic?

@pqr - I did not know this. PeterJ that's great. I was working on a similar bit of code, but hadn't quite got there! My original example could be modified to just the attribute address and it would work nicely with yours to copy a whole screen very slowly, and colour it in. Perfect for a crap game, ...
