Re: SkoolKit 8.10
These are the reasons I like snapshots (pristine z80 snapshots especially): - They load instantly as SkoolKid mentioned - They are very reliable and work well with Bob_Fossil 's excellent LFN browser - The emulator is automatically set to the correct hardware mode for a particular snapshot - The sta...

Road Toad TZX re-release by DK'Tronics fixed
Today I noticed that the archived TZX re-release of Road Toad by DK'Tronics has a messy screen when it first loads up. The rest of the game works fine. I dug into it and noticed the Randomize Usr statement on line 40 is 2 bytes off. It should read: 40 RANDOMIZE USR 24626 ...which matches with the re...

Re: Debugging an intermittent crash in a sea of code!
SpecEmu has a useful tool in the debugger to look at the execution history. In the debugger click on View -> Execution History. It's the same as looking at the stack pointer memory but it's quicker and less confusing when SP gets modified in the code.

Re: Game of the day...
This one's nice. It's the first time I'm playing Mag Max from Imagine. It's a smooth side-scrolling shooter and I'm really enjoying it even though I can just make it to level 2. When you get hit, you don't lose a life. Instead you lose one of the add-ons that you pick up along the way. So far the on...

Patrick Paddle is a good simple game. Reminds me of that high score contest we did a couple years back. This was one of the games we played.

Re: A library of tap2sna.py recipes
I could have sworn I looked for a TZX of the game right there a few days ago, but I must have missed it somehow. :? You didn't miss it. It wasn't there a few days ago. I uploaded a bunch of TZXs a few days ago. Then there was a database update on Apr 11 . Only after that they would have been availa...

Re: A library of tap2sna.py recipes
Hi SkoolKid , Thanks for the change you made. I gave that a try but the Python script kept running without stopping. I stopped it with ctrl+C and then it produced a non-pristine z80 which worked but the PC was at some place well into the game code. I adjusted the t2s file to read like this, which pr...

Re: A library of tap2sna.py recipes
It's hard to tell without seeing exactly what the loader does. At the moment, there is no way to tell tap2sna.py to "stop the simulation at address X, but only after the tape has finished", which sounds like what you may need (and which many BASIC-heavy games need). That's a feature I'm p...

TZX files for Type-ins uploaded
Hi, Finally got around to uploading these files. They are perfect TZX files for the type-ins below. I only uploaded if the TZX does not exist on SC. They were all typed out in the 80s and converted to TZX in 2006. You can download the set here Game Name Magazine Published Author Published in Issue A...

Re: A library of tap2sna.py recipes
Good question, and I don't have a good answer. So far I've assumed, for each game I've looked at, that the TZX file (if it exists) of the original release is the best one to use. (And if there's more than one of those, I go with the first one listed on the game's page on worldofspectrum.net.) If I ...

Re: A library of tap2sna.py recipes
Great project that you've taken on, @SkoolKid . How does one tell which is a better and "more accurate" tzx or tap file? For example if the tzx exists but it's a hacked version, or if 3 tzx files exist and they all have different MDA checksums?

Re: Arcade ZX Collection : Botanic
Great game Bubu . The cassette arrived in the mail on Thursday so shipping to the US was really quick. Popped it into a cassette recorder and loaded it onto my ZX Omni and it loaded up first time! It's a nice addition to the Arcade ZX collection. I can't seem to only play this game once or twice. Ha...
