Downloading old builds of NextZXOS

Post by danboid »

I want to try the NES core on my xberry pi but according to this bug report:

https://gitlab.com/victor.trucco/zx-spe ... -/issues/5

I need to be running a core that predates 22.09, maybe earlier?

Where might I be able to download an old (pre 22.09) build of NextZXOS?

I have found these tarballs:

https://gitlab.com/thesmog358/tbblue/-/releases

but they may be older than I need to go and I'd have to build it myself.

I have been told on FB that the Next's NES core only works with VGA so I'll have to take my XBP out of its case to re-attach the VGA port, after installing an older Next firmware.

Yes, that was the link I needed. Thanks jamesh!

There doesn't seem to be a link to https://www.specnext.com/tag/firmware/ on https://www.specnext.com/latestdistro/ but there may no longer be a reason for people to install older firmware releases when the alternate cores get updated to work with the current firmware, like BeebFPGA has.

Some may have no interest in running the alternate cores at all of course. I need to see the NES one running at least once. Hopefully a Mega Drive core is possible on the XBP and KS1.

The bug report I linked to in the first post is wrong. It seems that Victors cores do still work with the latest stable NextZXOS release firmware (22.10) but only via VGA, at least the NES core works OK.
