Friday Quiz: Specword 5

Post by GreenCard »

What is Specword? It's only words. Intersecting words placed on a word grid with spaces between the words. Let's enjoy the magic of words together, this Friday, at around 0900 hours. Wordy words. Word.

What's the word?

Although the word is clearly SJOE if you want a Spectrum word game

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/4 ... ctrum/SJOE

EDIT: Although Psion Scrabble and the other one which is 128K (Scrabble Deluxe - which looks crap and beeps annoyingly all the time) are both very good.

It's Friday! Yaaaaaaaaay! :D

Here's a crossword filled with Speccy-related wordments. I'm sure I've made a mistake in there somewhere, but I can't seem to find one at the moment.

Rules for this quiz: No more than 3 answers per post, no consecutive posts from the same user (mine don't count). No points will be given for this quiz. It's just for fun, innit? If extra clues are given, rules no longer apply. No running in the corridors. No scrubs.

I'll give you 32 across - the one @ParadigmShifter didn't get - as KLAX.

Another puzzle? 17 down is PLOTTING.

12 across is ODIN (could have been Thor - had to wait for 1 down to be filled in).

Getting warmer. This breaks the "no consecutive posts from the same user (mine don't count)" rule though. 500 lines. Don't do it again. ;)

From warm to scorching hot - it was RACK-IT, with an I. And a hyphen.

The sports brand (29 across) can only be ADIDAS. Right? Football and tennis.

13 down is SKATE - though if I'd made this quiz it'd have been "Live Free" instead, no Spectrum references be damned. But that doesn't fit in the holes.

This is also correct, but you've spelled it correctly and I haven't. I've spelled it "Zool" (which is actually an Amiga game, IIRC). I knew there'd be a c*ck-up somewhere in this quiz. Oh well!

I don't ever remember winning one of these quizzes so I'm carrying on regardless. These aren't quite so clear, but I'm still reasonably confident of these.

The "untitled game" of 5 down is NOTHING, complete with cute one-eyed anime girl whose jumper is too long in the arms. I have no idea what was going on there, but I don't object.

20 down should be N.O.M.A.D. - b.u.t. t.h.a.t. w.a.s.n.'.t. a.n. i.s.o.m.e.t.r.i.c. v.i.e.w......

39 across, the Temple, Tower and Maze all involve TERROR. I had the Jackson/Livingstone gamebook of Temple Of Terror when I was a nipper, and I know there was a Spectrum version.

Win this quiz I will. A chance everyone else has not. Shafted are you all. Tape loading error R.
