Apparently 18th August is Bubblegum Day!!! Is that really a thing?

Even though this is a Spectrum Next game, it's still a Spectrum game:

Though I'd have to go to Birkenhead if I fancied one. Which I don't.

I'm hardly surprised. I can still remember the last time I visited a Wimpy. It was 14 years ago, it had probably been a decade or more's hiatus before that, and the reason why I never went back is the same reason why the chain was failing and needed bailing out as many times as it did.

There are 70 branches of Wimpy left in the UK. For comparison, McDonald's has 1,336 locations, and Burger King has 530.

If Wimpy was an 8-bit computer, it would be a Jupiter Ace.

Buzz Off!
Responsive and smooth-playing but I found the collision-detection* with the webs too unpredictable to be much fun. Plays a bit like Snake (collect the fruit, avoid crossing your own path or touching the edges).
* The instructions say to avoid collisions with Bertie's head but I'm not convinced; it still seems arbitrary.

Yes, I'm not thinking only my fellow humans and how to be more creative in their toilet. I am ALSO thinking of the enviroment!

It's easy to forget that More Tea Vicar is actually based around tea! It's almost as if Jonathan wrote an excellent shmup and made up a load of barmy old cack for the storyline at the last minute.

From the instructions:
Fortunately, the Reverend Wayne Fleet of St Leonard's Chapel near the Sea of Tranquility, part-time farmer, gun runner and smuggler, has a substantial plantation on the red planet, on which he grows his illegal genetically-modified tea plants. Each year he is able to produce hundreds of tons of low grade yet highly sought-after Earl Grey tea which he is able to sell on the black market to the highest bidder. All this while preaching the gospel to audiences across the solar system, and beyond.

The Reverend Fleet's activities make the authorities deeply uneasy. This illicit tea cannot be easily taxed, it is not rationed, and is beyond the control of authorities around the galaxy. In a fit of pique, the powers-that-be finally pass their first successful resolution in many years. Tea smugglers are declared outlaws and a bounty is placed upon the head of known traffickers.
