Reviews for Alien Insects (#12384)

The aim of this game is fairly simple, move your spaceman-thingy around the screen to shoot the baddies...fairly simple it ain't as it can be quite a pain to actually shoot them as there is dodgy detection in this and you have to move close to them to hit them, you move close and they end up hitting you instead! Bah!

Definately not one I'll be playing very often. Interesting title music though.

Alien Insect is like no other game I´ve seen before .

Our character moves so fast we can barely control him .

The baddies are vulnerable only at times so you must shoot carefuly .

A pretty weird shooter -in the good sense of the term- ...

ps - the sound is futuristic and appealing .

This early 'homemade' Spectrum games, probably written by kids, are one of the main reasons that keep me coming back for more. The game is obviously playable, but don't expect accuracy to be it's strongest point. Killing an alien insect is ridiculously random, and I feel they only die when they want too!
If I had to sum up in words what I feel for this curious little game it would just be: LOL!

Pretty demented. Fly your superfast man through outer space shooting space insects.
They seems to be immune to your bullets, except for the head. Weird sounds.
Quite strange. Not so totally bad as the average WoS vote may suggest [although not even so much: it ranks about 5/10].

Still, completely lacking in variety and in challenging the player - there isn't a progressive difficulty or any change of sort.

I did enjoy this in parts and managed to score 1885 points which I think is quite good given the hit detection is this game is so random. At times I t takes about 2 or 3 shots to register a hit while on other occasions you can just keep shooting at one area and you'll whip out all the enemies in one go. It's not that bad of a game really, it's just too random to take seriously.

A lot of 2s for this one, can't help but join in. The hot detection is very random and most of the time it won't register first time, then half of the alien would disappear and half would remain on screen, then at times he'd disappear as if it registered a hit but it doesn't, very bizarre and thus not very fun. I will make mention of the title music, the middle of it sounds like it tries to sound something like Black Sabbath and gave up half way through. Not terrible by any means, there loads of stuff that's worse, it's just not an amusing game at all and one go was enough for me.
