Reviews for Metro-Cross (#3152)

A good arcade conversion from U.S. Gold - a futuristic race against time, an athlete making its way running through a technological environment.

The graphics are neat and fast, the gameplay inevitably rather ripetitive, but the playability is good - although to progress in the game, after the earlier levels, you have to learn perfectly the features of each circuit.

Appreciable and a bit underrated.

Pretty good version of the Namco arcade classic here. Plays and scrolls pretty well, retaining the same gameplay for a proper arcade feel. The game sadly lacks the in-game tune but I reckon it would have sounded terrific on the beeper anyway. But overall Metro-Cross is a fun game worth checking out.

A terrific conversion of a great arcade game. The scrolling was a bit juddery and there wasn't much colour but then this was the Spectrum after all. What mattered was that this played pretty-much as well as the original arcade game, and that's very well indeed.

Nice game and a good conversion but a bit too repetitive. The graphics aren't really all that good either.
It's fast and keeps your adrenaline pumping, first 6 levels are a bit to easy, then it gets tougher.

The classical run-and-jump Namco coin-op is converted for the Spectrum by Probe Software, and the end result is good albeit not excellent.

The action is fast and the sense of "speed against time" of the original is all there to be found. Graphics are a little bland however, and sound is almost non-existent.

US Gold's arcade conversions usually leave a lot to be desired, but I tell you what this surprised me. It's very playable and it's actually good fun.

One of the three Speccy games I got with my Spectrum in 1987 and I loved this game. Nowadays it's a bit bland, other versions are better and I love the arcade music and that's missing here, but the gameplay itself is in tact and it's great fun still after all these years.
