Reviews for Mighty Magus (#3194)

Review by The Dean of Games on 14 Feb 2012 (Rating: 3)

1985 Quicksilva Ltd (UK)
by Neil Pawson and Ivan

A platform and ladders game.
As the Mighty Magus, your task is to go down all 30 levels to the depths of the Rising Sun Temple, avoid traps on the way, fight some monsters and kill Faugy The Fierce, your Nemesis.
Not a good year to release such an outdated game, the graphics are poor, our wizard is really badly made and the screen flickers a bit while moving around, still it maintains some sense of adventure to entertain the adventurer ones.

A platform game which dates from 1985 but looks and plays as if it was programmed a couple of years earlier. Graphics, sound and gameplay look very dated, and the game itself is boring and shallow. Not awful, but less than mediocre.

Mighty Magus reminds me so much of Alchemist that I can hardly find any differences between both games .

A good game , with depth and a good ambient .

The baddies are very original : spiders , ants , snails , etc.

A mind game to be played with some patience .

Ps - It also reminds me of El Zorro .
