Reviews for North Star (#3461)

Futuristic platformer/beat'em up/shoot'em up. You have simply to kill everything that comes in your way using a long mechanical arm, while the landscape scrolls from left to right, and be sure that your oxygen doesn't finish, destroying some small structures that will release a cluster of bubbles - at the end of the level a lift will lead you to the next levels, where you'll probably be able to get more weapons, but I've never been further than the third level - so I'm not sure.

Nice colourful graphics, good tune. Not a bad game at all, although it's hard to control your movements.

Another game from my large collection of Speccy games once upon a time. I always liked this game, it has nice colourful graphics and the gameplay's nice too except the controls are a bit awkward and sometimes the jumping is awkward, not exactly what you wish for sometimes.

It's not perfect but it's still a nice game to try out if you haven't already.

Very lovely graphics in this but I found the gameplay a little too tame.

North Star has some great graphics as a majority of Gremlin games do and the gameplay is pretty nice and somewhat straightforward, though it has one major drawback for me personally, I really don't like his floating jumping effect. My problem is he'll either jump too short, too far or jump with no direction. It's only one major flaw but it's a very significant one as you will be jumping for much of your journey.

If only for his jumping this certainly would have recieved a 4.

Good platformer with excellent technical features.
The game is a mixture of Rygar and SuperMarioBros.

The inertia is well implemented and makes the game very hard, in the manner of SuperMario and GiannaSisters.

While it can be too hard in the begining, With a bit of perseverance one can get the point to the importance of the speed with jumps. Also a series of progressive power-ups give the game a remarkable balance in gameplay.

Many users find the game slow and surrender fast. But learn how to manage yourself, and you'll find that is not slow, just a bit tricky in its simplicity.
