Reviews for RoboCop 2 (#4181)

The sequel to the classic RoboCop and one I had as a kid, not the original but this one, yeah my dad didn't like me too much, anyway this game is one of the hardest I've ever played in my life, I never got past level one. It still looks great, I was really disappointed there was no in-game music compared to the first RoboCop game, or indeed compared to Batman The Movie which Matthew Cannon also done the music for. Also the title music is just a much shorter compared to the title tune of the other versions, it's just a short continuous loop rather than a proper tune. how disappointing.

I think I easily prefer the first RoboCop game...okay maybe I prefer it a little too much.

Excellent game. Technically brilliant, with smooth 8-way scroller, nice graphics effects and a very good combination of arcade, platform and adventure.

In Robocop 2, Ocean Software made specifics gamedesign modifications to each computer-console version of the game.
What we have in Speccy is a combination of Spellbound and Wally platform-adventure style with Robocop original DataEast coin-op. And its outstanding.

Probably the best game from Andrew Deakin and Ivan Horn tandem. The game its hard, and you have to research before drop arms and surrender.

Robocop 2 isn't a bad sequel and it was never going to match the first game's exploits, but it lacks the fine things that made the first game so great which greatly affects my view for it.

The main thing is while Robocop has some of the most amazing music in any Spectrum game, Robocop 2 has a short continuous tune at the start and none during the game, which did annoy me if I am honest, so I play this game with Robocop's in-game music playing on my AY player instead.

Another problem I have is I personally feel they went backwards on the gameplay, as it's a bit more duller compared to the first game, I didn't get the same sense of enjoyment and thrill here as I did with Robocop, it was missing that buzz, it just doesn't seem as crisp.

Robocop 2 isn't a bad game, it is quite a decent game and a fairly enjoyable one, but it just lacks that fine touch to be considered great, which is a shame because I want to like this as much as Robocop, but I can't seem to.

Just as frustrating as RoboCop and it isn't as good as well. Not terrible, just not as great as the original by a long way. Different developers, different ideas, didn't pay off. Pity.

Simply too hard. You even have to make the old heap of rusty iron jump from platform to platform.
Well done, but a bit overrated: Crash Smash (93%), Sinclair User Classic (91%) and Your Sinclair Megagame (93%).
