Reviews for Shinobi (#4457)

One big and colorful game but playability is very bad, especially after playing out the arcade game and it flows like water, spectrum version is looks like a sluggish lump.

But still, they maganed to cram every aspect of the original arcade game into zx spectrum. The multiload is almost bad as Fiendish Freddy's, so be sure to grab +3 disk version.

This one I had as a wee'un and I always enjoyed it, it's got nice enough graphics with good looking sprites, great music from Tiny Williams and the level detail is pretty much the same as the arcade version, it's pretty tough but it's still a fun game to play and very enjoyable nonetheless.

This is a surprisingly good version of the arcade classic. It's plays at a decent pace and controls reasonably well. It's also very colorful although the sprites sometimes get lost in the background graphics.

Coincidently I've just completed the XBLA version of the arcade game so playing this should have been a charm! but it's not quite. I love the way it looks as much like the arcade version as possible and I love the music, but yes playability is a bit funny, the jumping I dislike for instance and sometimes the big jump doesn't work when you want it to. It's nice but not as good as I'd hoped it to be.

It's definitely not among the worst arcade conversions on the Spectrum but it just lacks the enjoyment you can find in other versions of Shinobi. The big jump only works when it wants to and I twice died from projectiles that were masked by the graphics. It's not a bad effort all the same and it could have been a lot worse, but it also could have been better designed.

It seems a pretty good beat'em up to me. I didn't find problems in performing the "big jump" as some other people, not with the PC keyboard, anyway.

A disappointing arcade conversion. Not terrible by any means but it lacks quality and it's forgettable.
