Reviews for Split Personalities (#4769)

On paper this doesn't sound all that promising - put-together pictures of a bunch of '80s politicians and celebrities jigsaw-style against a timer. But it works - the gameplay is fast and challenging, the various "odd" blocks that need to be destroyed by combining them with a specific other "odd" block add challenge and the result is a fun action-puzzler that proved surprisingly uninfluential.

A fantastic puzzle game. Probably the best of the Spectrum age.

The graphics are great, gameplay is brilliant, great sound as well and if only the themes on each puzzle were a bit less 80's personality influenced, the game would still appeal today to newer audiences.

I've never understood the appeal of this game. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with it, everything works as it should.
It's just the whole concept of sliding tiles around to form a picture doesn't interest me.

A great puzzle games where you must put together the portraits of some celebrities from Ronald Reagan to Marilyn Monroe (although to this day I still don't understand who the couple of level 8 is supposed to be). The catch is that you cannot just put the pieces into place and get away with it; the walls of the assembling area get progressively filled with cracks which push the blocks away when hit. You play against a time limit and on later levels, pieces will also push each other if there is not an obstacle in their direction.

Apart from the puzzle pieces, you will also find several icons. Some can give you more points or time, or even kill you instantly when colliding each other (the gas can and the lit match). You also have to stay alert for bombs - which can be neutralized with a faucet icon for 5000 points.

Split Personalities is a puzzle game with fast arcade traits. Original, well-presented and addictive. A real classic.

Pretty much Splitting Images but with a new name and I think new random items but the same gameplay exists and see my review for Splitting Images for my detailed thoughts because I am not going to repeat myself here.

I too never got on board with this game. Seemed too random to get to grips with properly with the bonus items for me getting more in the way than anything.

I never owned it myself but a schoolmate had it and showed it to me and he was whizzing through the first few levels and making it look easy and yet I couldn't get past level one. Even now I'm playing the game on an emulator on my computer and watching a walkthrough on my tablet and still I cannot finish level one! So infuriating and annoying.

I can easily give this a 3 like YOR did since our experiences are relatively similar, but I give the extra mark for its beauty and cleverness in design. And it's got Sir Clive in it, bless him.
