Reviews for Technician Ted (#5160)

An excellent game, far ahead of Jet Set Willy or the plethora of platformers released around this period.

This game was also insanely tricky.

The premise is fairly simple - perform simple tasks in the Chip Factory (which always involve hitting two switches in the same room.) However, not every switch is accessible from one section of a room, and not all rooms are accessible from the start - completing tasks opens up new areas, and in turn new tasks to complete.

Graphically excellent for it's time, with lots of variation and imagination in the room design. The music wasn't too bad either, and even the loading scheme was brilliantly done.

Easily a 5, and a classic Spectrum platformer, only topped by it's 128k equivalent - Technician Ted: The Megamix - but that's for another review...!

I would have loved this game when I was a kid . basically a Jet Set Willy clone with enough quality to keep you busy for a while .

You are Ted -a technician- and your mission consists in fixing some damaged TV and video equipment .

Each new screen is a different task and I like the feature of not being susctracted lives when you are killed but energy instead .

The lack of originality doesn´t bother me much since the quality of this program is very high .

Very colorful and funny with a touch of surreal humour ... it is easy for me to like games like this one , very easy indeed .

A platformer in the Manic Miner / Jet Set Willy mould i.e. infuriatingly difficult with pixel perfect jumps.
If your idea of fun is spending 15 minutes trying to make a simple jump then you'll love Technician Ted. Anyone else should give it a miss.

A criminally forgotton game, it's Jet Set Willy all over again, and better.
The game is insanely hard, even harder than Willy's games. Ted has to perform a few tasks consisting of turning off switchs in each room (the flashing objects), generally this count 2 in each room, but I haven't completed the game, so maybe this changes.
Not all rooms are available from the start, only after you complete some tasks you can reach them.
The game is very well designed and very well written, movement is incredibly fluid and the only let down is it's too close similarity to JSW. This makes it look like a clone, which it isnt although it's somewhat a relative thing.
Nonetheless this game deserves to be know by any JSW fanatic, because it's even better.
