Turtle Power ruled backed in the eighties. Those half shelled heroes even had their own pop single. It was somewhat inevitable therefore that they'd get their own videogame. Somewhat less inevitable was how good it would be. Imageworks did a great job on the graphics resulting in one of the most colourful games on the spectrum. The gameplay flicks between a top down view as you move about on street level and when you enter a building or sewer the action changes to a side on view. Here you'll have platforms to jump on, baddies to whack and pizza to eat which replenishes your health. You can choose which turtle to control although there's no discernible difference between any of them.
Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles is an enjoyable game which is a rarity for a tv or film tie-in.

A very colourful and enjoyable game. Not quite a classic but it isn't far from it. Very charmful and a treat for Turtles fan at the time, and for some even now, I certainly enjoyed this more than the Xbox 360 game.

The first Ninja Turtles adventure for the Speccy is an excellent game. It is really colourful like other titles from its authors but this is their best work in my humble opinion. The enemies don't respawn without end like it happens in their other games. That could sound a small difference but for me it improves the gameplay a lot. When you kill the bad guys in a section, it makes sense doing so and you get the satisfaction to know that you are safe there unless for whatever reason you need to go out and back again. Besides, every turtle has his weapon and his mask colour... well, is not exactly like TV but close enough for the ZX. The difficulty is also in the good spot, not too easy but doable if you persist. The sound is not great, it has a 48k intro tune and while you play it has its beeps and zaps but no ingame music. If only it had had a 128k tune it could have been remembered as one of the best speccy games.

The David Perry and Nick Bruty team also gave us other great games like Savage, Extreme, Dan Dare III, Smash TV, Tintin... So, if this one could be considered their best, then this game is definitely no trifle

A platform game where you control the eponymous rectiles in a rescue mission to save April O'Neil from the evil Shredder. You must face hordes of enemies through sewers and the occasional rooftop taking advantage of several items like shurikens or the inevitable pizza slices.

Graphics are colorful and move quite fast, while sound is very limited, but on the whole the game does not fare any better than many other similar titles already available for the Spectrum. Moreover, I was too old for the Turtles craze, so there is no added nostalgic value for me, also because I only played this game first in the late 1990s through emulation. For this reason I find it OK but nothing really special. 6/10

Always liked this game. Really nice graphics and the gameplay is very enjoyable though I never liked the music and the jumping can be a nuisance at times. But minor faults aside it's good fun.

In general, the couple of programmers that created this, gives the games an absolutely identifiable graphic character. You can tell it's theirs
