Reviews for Terra Cresta (#5190)

One of the best shoot-em ups for the ZX Spectrum. Very playable with monochrome yet very well detailed graphics. Music's a little bit hyper for my liking but it's still enjoyable nonetheless. Well worth your time.

Excellent game !!! the music remained in my head for years and years. . . TERRA CRESTA . . . the only video-game where you kill dinosaurs with a spacecraft !!

Excellent ! ! 5 / 5 .

It's a Jonathan Smith game, so it's very professional, with lots of jingles, a drumming tune and, of course, ducks. It's technically brilliant, with superbbly smooth movements performed by the enemy aircraft, with are varied in shape and pattern. It's also very challenging, because are many things to avoid and to shoot at in the screen at the same time, and the action is so furious that I usually end up with a sore wrist. Anyway, there are power up's/new components augmenting the structure of your ship, although they are very easily lost. A defect: there are very few restart spots when you lose a life, so you die you must repeat the same sections all over again.

It is very good, they said......The person that suggested me this game adored the space ship games...

This game is a classic in the spectrum, but I never like it specially.

It is not bad, it is probably pretty good, but...

Not in my top 100. I only suggest to test it because it became very famous for the speccy platform...just only for that.

An enjoyable shoot 'em up. Joffa did better games of course but it's a worthy game for fans of the genre.

Great conversion of the Nichibutsu arcade classic; probably the best space shooter for the Spectrum, coded by Joffa Smith in 1986 for Imagine.

You control the Terra Cresta, a space fighter that can be enlarged by picking up pieces when shooting silos. Avoid aliens, rockets, missiles and shooting structures.

A perfect vertical scroll, with excellent tunes and sound effects that immerse you in a cool arcade gameplay.

Not one of Joffa Smifff's highlights. It's technically sound but it has that problem some shooters have where the bullets camouflages in the background and so you don't see it hitting you, Gemini Wing had it and this does too and it really annoys me. Joffa did better games and there are better games of this nature, Moon Cresta being one of them. Not quite a shitty sequel in the usual sense in that it's not a bad game, but rather an underwhelming one to say the least. Oh and the arcade version is miles better, so stick to that for your Terra Cresta goodness.

On a sombre side note, I can't believe it's now ten years since Joffa passed.

More Japanese conversions!!!
This brings excellent memories.

We can safely say, one of the best shoot'em ups ever made, at the same time one of the best conversions from arcade machines.

Even though I prefer the first game, Moon Cresta, I can't complain about this sequel.
The game is very well written and the conversion is quite good, the author never let's down. I love the dynamic sounds Joffa used in his games, it really did make a difference and the programming is top notch. It's arguably one of the best shoot 'em ups you can play in a Spectrum.
In fact I can't find any complaints about the game itself, just the genre. It's been made so many times, it's lost it's appeal. Of course, if I was still in 1986, I would see it with different eyes.

Yes! A true classic...
one of the Best so far.
Especially when it comes to add on's. This was probably the best game when it came to interpreting the art of add-on.
True about the problem with color and projectiles, but not as serious as in other games
