Coming on the second side of the Horizons tape, this was the first taste of Spectrum games for most people who bought the new machine back in 1982.

For those who had used the previous Sinclair machine, the ZX81, it gave a pretty good taster of the Spectrum's new capabilities with colour, user defined graphics and sound effects; all things that couldn't be done with the ZX81.

Still, it's just a Breakout clone written in BASIC and there's not really much to it; your control over the direction of the ball is limited to bouncing it along or sending it back where it came from.

Overall, it's a game that was played rather a lot in the early days, but is merely of historical interest now.

The first game I ever played on a computer and, in my humble opinion, the best arkanoid-type game I ever tried ... I still play it at times with great delight.

Colorful and charming in its simplicity with tons of nostalgic value .

A must have !! ;-)

The first game played by many kids around the globe. Not bad at all for an '82 game, specially because it's written in BASIC , but still pretty limited technically. I think it functioned more like a showcase of the capabilities of the recently released 48K than a proper game. Still a game to be remembered.

There's not much you can say about this really. It's really Breakout and it's alright for what it is. Of course there are better games of this type as many clones were written after 1982 and many had vastly better technical capabilities compared to this. However, there were also a lot poorer Breakout games written after 1982, and so we can appreciate this game's efforts and respect its nostalgia as a result.
