Reviews for Top Cat in Beverly Hills Cats (#5329)

Top Cat! The most effectual Top Cat! Who's intellectual close friends get to..oh forget it just sing along to yourself if you know the words. This isn't too bad of a game, I just felt it feels a bit bland especially companed to other Hi-Tec Hanna-Barbera games, like Ruff and Reddy and Quick Draw McGraw. Still it's a nice game to pass the time by.

1991 Hi-Tec Software (UK)
by Dave Thompson and Richard Morton

One of my favorite Hanna Barbera characters, and one of my favorite Hi-Tec games. It's not their best, in fact not at all, but it did it for me back in 1991.
Graphically is very accurate, minding the Spectrum limitations, and the gameplay serves it's purpose quite well.
Unlike other Hanna Barbera based games, Top Cat is a more object negociating game, not like Spellbound, for instance, it's a lot simplier, which makes it much more effective to me (Spellbound is better though).

This, unlike Challenge of the Gobots, IS a Hanna-Barbara game from Hi-Tec, and really I couldn't help but feel empty with this one. It plays more like an adventure game rather than a platformer of say Ruff and Ready. This one seems to remind me more of Jonny Quest and The Jetsons, which happen to be two of the worst games Hi-Tec release, though this thankfully is nowhere near as bad. It looks nice with some nice looking graphics but the gameplay seems like a chore, especially when they give you so much time to finish the level. I applaud it for trying to be different, Challenge of the Gobots was a different kettle in the fish but then you'd expect that because of different publishers, but this just didn't do it for me. Maybe if I played it 20 years ago, I would have enjoyed it more.
