Reviews for Travel with Trashman (#5392)

If you've ever dreamed of scooping up wet Jewish hankies for a living then this is the simulator for you.
In the sequel to Trashman, the binman aimed to earn his way around the world doing demeaning jobs such as grabbing escaped frogs in Paris or presenting a buttocky target to a raging bull in Madrid in front of a magnificently jeering bloodthirsty crowd (who love it if you die) In Jerusalem you pick up hankies dropped by the Wailing Wall.
Travel with Trashman takes a Blackpool postcard view of all things foreign without quite overstepping the line between parody and xenophobia.
Depicted in graphics that scream Spectrum and with music at the end of the game that screams annoying, Travel with Trashman was an imaginative follow up to its surprising hit prequel.

I had so much fun with this in my younger years, and still I have a go at it every now and then. It basically boils down to a variation on the Pac-Man theme, with several amusing cultural stereotypes which might raise a few eyebrows in these times of overwhelming political correctness.

Each screen must be negotiated in a peculiar way and in order not to find yourself without enough money to proceed to the next location, you must a) be as quick as possible in completing each task and b) choose your route around the world very carefully.

Although it looks very dated even by the Spectrum's standards, it's still enjoyable in my opinion.

The follow up to the inspiring Trashman. I think it got a bit less popular maybe due to the main character graphics, which is way ugly. And, of course, one of the early levels difficulty (the Madrid scene is nerve wrecking). Nonetheless, with a bit of patience and persistence, this is a very addictive game, although I have to admit, the cleaning actions become a bit repetitive after awhile. And talk about the messages in-between plays, so annoying. Why cant we just skip them? But in spite all that it's still one of my favorite games.

Thankfully the 13 locations (and not just 7 as the magazines of the time announced) are all good and original which helps to keep the attention span wide awake and the adrenaline pumping.
It has a simple strategy element to it, because you need to choose your next cleaning destiny wisely so you don't get stuck somewhere penniless. If that happens, it's... game over.

The game's idea is quite good, simple, but good, not so original as the first I think, but still good and cute all the same. And the quirky graphics (although a bit messy) add some fun to the game. It's a nice high above average game that with a little more care (Trashman itself looks like a homeless bum) would have been even better!

This isn't bad, it's still nice enough to play, the problem is the original was a far, far, far better game. They changed too much of this for me. If it was kept to the same level as the original I might have been kinder but it's just another one of those sequels with fresh ideas and few working for it. Give me Trashman over this any day.

Playing this again for the first time in years , i was expecting it to be dated and not as much fun as i remembered , how i was wrong , help trashman clean up the world , travel from country to country starting in europe and ending up in far away continents , its a series of mini games in each city , earn money , move on , get as far as you can and get the best score , great fun , neat touches like the passport application and hilarious reasons for your demise ! a fun game , it was never gonna be the best game of all time , but has great sound , fun gameplay and i like it - a lot .

The sequel to the classic Trashman is as good as the first game. Even better in my opinion.

This time, Trashman has to pick any kind of litter up (frogs, empty beer jars, coins, coconuts, ...) while avoiding people through thirteen places: Paris, Madrid, Munich, Moscow, Jerusalem, Benares, Hong Kong, Alice Springs, Kanyu, New Orleans, Sao Paulo, Samoa and Chichen Itza.

The good thing about this game is it's based on a very simple idea (grab litter) and it can become quite addictive.

You start with an amount of cash you need to travel to certain places where you will get more cash if you finish your mission and get more cash to travel further and so on. At first, the limited amount of cash only lets you travel to the closest destinations but once you progress in the game you'll motivate to travel to more exotic places.

A really nice game in spite of its poor graphics but with an unmistakable tune.
