Reviews for Buccaneer (#730)

I think this is a pretty decent game. There's not a lot in this and the colour clash is quite bad but I certainly got into this at least. I did find myself enjoying this game, for the long run through, probably not.

Firebird used to excell at everything they did but this time they didnĀ“t quite make it . . .

Limited movements = limited fun ! !

Too bad ! Wild hordes of enemies and only one bullet at a time ! ! ! !

This could have been good but it is only average , bad for FIREBIRD . . . 3 / 5 .

Not really that bad but there's not enough in it to keep me amused for too long. I don't like the graphical clashes as well, it's quite a sore sight to say the least. Peter Gough done much better games later on, but with this I guess everyone starts somewhere.

An admirable excercise in dullness, if that was the goal, and for only 8 Pounds! Before it was more wisely budgeted at 1.99, and still it was too much.
A repetitive horizontal shoot'em up with pleasant colorful backgrounds, scrolling with a parallax effect, in which you have to destroy wave after wave of strange UFO's while flying over a river. It's so easy that I got to the 8th or 9th wave at the first game, in spite of feeling progressively suicidal, because the major danger to my mission was boredom itself, aggravated by consequent existential anguish. All the enemies have a similar irritating movement of flying towards you and then going back, adding seasickness to the package [for only 8 Pounds!]. After the 7th or 8th wave there was a small variation, a very brief docking sequence, that I somehow failed, which would have refueled me, although I didn't have any fuel problem at all, as far as I know. Then they mercifully managed to kill me.
1,5/5

And here's one more game I should have reviewed sooner, for I owned this as well much like Crazy Castles, and this too is a game I always liked. Yes it gets slow because so much happens at once at times, yes it can get boring easily, but I always liked playing it now and it's one of the few times I stopped playing while I was ahead otherwise I would be here for another two hours playing it. Nice little game from Peter Gough, who in my view is a very underrated programmer.
