Excellent sideways scrolling shooter. Admittedly it is a relatively simple game, and the graphics are somewhat monochromatic, but the game is satisfyingly playable, thanks, in part, to the simplicity.
I always remember this game as being the pinnacle of music on the 48k Spectrum. Tim Follin's title tune blends chords, drum sounds and melody simultaneously on a single 1 bit channel, and it is a good tune in its own right.
There is not much to set Chronos apart from any other side scrolling shooter of the era. It is not as pretty as R-Type or Zynaps, and certainly does not fair well in the originality stakes. That said, however, I feel it deserves a 5 for its supreme playability, and being a £1.99 budget release. The one thing that does set this game apart, Tim Follin's music, is a virtuoso technical and artistic achievement worthy of top marks in itself.

Very simple budget side-scrolling shoot-em-up. Good, no-nonsense zapping-and-dodging fun, but nothing else to hold your attention for a long time.

Very nice shooter game, really playable and enjoyable and I had a lot of fun playing it......but of course not a lot of people actully played this game! No they were stuck on the title screen in awe of the fantastic title music from Tim Follin! The beeper only had one frickin sound channel, so how Tim managed to create such a sound with it as evident here I'll never know, pure class from a true genius!

Monochrome shoot-em-up with good level design.
If you like this type of game you could do a lot worse than playing Chronos.

The title music by Mr. Follin is good but not his best work.
Vectron still stands out among game music for the Spectrum's beeper.

Chronos is quite good , a very decent shooter ... cool and well designed .

Not too original but quite good !!

Ps - the tune in this game is remarkable indeed !!

To be honest I always felt this as a shooter was quite bland. It's not bad but I always felt this was missing something to be considered great especially compared to Zynaps. Fabulous music though.
